Opening date due on canal bridge

An opening date for a new canal bridge is due to be announced on Friday.

The 12.5m, (41.1ft) 250-tonne St Ann Way Bridge over the Gloucester Sharpness Canal was supposed to open last spring.

But the project stumbled over the question of who was responsible for building the approach roads even though construction was completed in January.

It is seen to be a key element of the city's regeneration, giving easy access to the new Quays development.
